Your system, explained

The Ohio Fire Code sets how often each system must be inspected and tested. Hercules builds a schedule that covers every required interval and takes care of the filings. Your insurance company and local municipality may have additional requirements.

Common questions

Answers before you call

What does the colored tag on my riser mean?

The tag records the last inspection date, the type of service, and the technician. A red or "impaired" tag means the system is out of service or has a critical deficiency that needs repair.

My report lists deficiencies. Do I have to fix them?

Most deficiencies must be corrected for the system to stay compliant. We'll quote each one and tell you which are urgent.

How do I keep a dry system from freezing?

Keep heated areas above 40°F, drain low-point drums before and during cold weather, and call us if the air pressure gauge drops.

Why does the water company need my backflow test?

A backflow device keeps building water from flowing back into the public supply. Backflow devices must be tested every year, and the test certificate must be filed with your water company or local authority. Hercules takes care of the filings and the filing fees.

My fire extinguisher was used. What now?

Call us to have it recharged right away. A discharged extinguisher won't protect you the next time.
